Super Bowl Xliv
The first game of Championship Sunday was the American Football Conference Game between the Colts and the New York Jets. The Colts were the obvious favorites but in the first half it was all Jets. After holding the Colts to a field goal, Mark Sanchez hit Braylon Edwards on a long TD pass and then after another big scoring play would see themselves with a 17-6 first half lead. Peyton Manning would come back with a long drive of his own before halftime and it was 17-13 Jets. The second half was all Peyton and the Colts as they cruised to a 30-17 victory and looking to make history as Jim Caldwell looks to become the first rookie head coach in the history of the NFL to win the Super Bowl.
The NFC Title Game should go down as one of the best ever. The Big Easy, still reeling from the disastrous effects of Hurricane Katrina, got their due return as the Saints would defeat the Minnesota Vikings 31-28 in overtime and go to their very first Super Bowl. The Vikings tied the game late and actually had some time to go for the win in regulation time but after winning the overtime coin toss, Drew Brees, on the heels of some costly Vikings penalties and crisp passing, setup a game winning 40 yard field goal by the Saints Garrett Hartley that gave the Saints their ticket to Super Bowl XLIV. The kick went directly down the middle of the uprights and sent Bourbon Street into a frenzy. Miami, get ready because the Saints are marching in and they are coming to Super Bowl XLIV.
With the new change of Pro Bowl venue from Hawaii, this years Pro Bowl will be played at Joe Robbie Stadium just like Super Bowl XLIV will be. This is also a big change as the Pro Bowl was usually held the week after the Super Bowl. In 2010, the Pro Bowl will be played the week before with the title game the following. Super Bowl XLIV looks to be one interesting matchup. Manning and Brees have been the two best QB's in the NFL this season. Two NFL MVP's with Manning winning it this season. Both have high powered offenses and stifling defenses and that is what is going to make Super Bowl XLIV so special.
Super Bowl XLIV is set of February 7, 2010 from Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami, Florida.
